Startup coffee is a weekly event intended to benefit local entrepreneurs by making it possible for businesses to form connections and cultivate successful businesses. Each week features a different speaker who gives a twenty minute presentation to an audience. Speakers may be local entrepreneurs, Thryve alumni, or mentors from local companies with a stake in the entrepreneurial ecosystem. After the presentation, attendees have the opportunity to ask questions and network. Taking place every Wednesday from 8:00 am to 9:00 am (MST), these meetings are hosted by Connect Coworking in their downtown office space, 33 5th Ave, Tucson, AZ 85701.
The speaker on September 12th was Startup Genome Chief Policy Officer Dane Stangler, who gave insights and comparisons on startup ecosystems nationwide and topics Tucson could begin to look into.
Startup Genome aids in the increase of success rates of startup businesses and endeavors to refine the performance of startup ecosystems nationally. Stangler specializes in entrepreneurship development and economic growth and provides professional insight and policy analysis for startup ecosystems worldwide.
Dane shared comprehensive ideas on the development of healthy startup communities. He highlighted aspects of other startup ecosystems they’ve been analyzing and used the data to convey the value that a community can gain by implementing a comprehensive set of programs. We had an opportunity to chat with Dane over the course of the day and joined other Tucson leaders to discuss coming together in new collaborative ways. We look forward to seeing how we organically grow our startup ecosystem.
